Z Kobietami Patriotkami:
Exhibition - Hackart

The exhibition is a summary of the creative process of the artists taking part in the all-day comics hackathon organised at the beginning of June at the Museum of Comics.  After the summer presentation of the works, you are again invited to a comics overview – this time in Nowa Huta.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on

5 December 2024 (Thurs) at 18:30.

The comics presented at the exhibition tell the stories of extraordinary women.

You will meet the pre-war journalist Aniela Piszowa, who was not afraid to speak her mind, and Halina Konopacka, Olympic gold medallist and war heroine. You will meet Zofia Stryjeńska, an art deco artist who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under a pseudonym. You will meet Felicja Curyłowa, who made painting houses in Zalipie famous, and Alina Szapocznikow, a sculptor with an innovative use of chewing gum. The exhibition will also include inspiring stories of Deaf women.

And these are just a few of the characters you will be able to meet during the exhibition!

The works will then be on view through to 5 January 2025 during the opening hours of the Cultural Centre, with the exception of workshop events taking place at the time. Admission to the exhibition is free.

The Totalizator Sportowy Foundation is a partner of the event.

Z kobietami - patriotkami: Hackathon

On 8 June 2024, we organised an all-day comic book marathon at the Krakow Comics Museum

Each person’s goal was to create a comic book about a real-life female character of their choice during the hackathon. The entire group was divided into smaller sub-teams where they could consult on the progress of their work on an ongoing basis.

Altogether, over 15 different ideas were generated with topics ranging from the Polish queen, through the pop start to local heroines. Our artists worked tirelessly for 8 hours to bring those stories to life using pencils, markers, and digital programmes. The atmosphere was intense, and everyone worked hard to finish their A4 work.

Also present during the hackathon were the mentors  who had previously led the online workshops. They supported the participants on an ongoing basis, gave them advice and were completely at the participants’ disposal. The event ended with a summary of all the work along with refreshments. All work was digitised and presented in the form of a publication available in libraries across the country.

Z Kobietami Patriotkami:
